Godrej appliances register 27% growth in Kerala

Kochi, July 2 The Appliances Division of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Ltd has witnessed a steady growth in Kerala by registering 27 per cent growth during the first quarter of the current financial year, Mr Ramesh Chembath, General Manager (Marketing), has said.

The company has a 12-per cent market share in the air-conditioning segment in the State and is targeting 14 per cent this year. The refrigerator segment occupies 23 per cent market share in Kerala against the all-India share of 20 per cent. The company had introduced ‘green’ technology for the fridges several years ago, he said.

The washing machine market has recorded tremendous growth in the State. It has grown by 70 per cent last year. He said that 70 per cent of the demand is for fully automatic machines.

The appliances division registered 37 per cent growth in the Kerala market last year. About 40 per cent of the sales take place during the Onam season and the company would introduce special schemes during the season, he said.
