Road map for work place safety

New Delhi, July 2

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Harish Rawat, has recommended a road map to make fully operational the National Policy on Safety, Health and Environment at work place.

He also sought time bound implementation of the various decisions taken for enhanced safety measures for the workers during the last financial year from the Directorate- General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DGFASLI).

Mr Rawat was addressing a ceremony at DGFASLI.

Ms Sudha Pillai, Secretary, Labour and Employment, said that comprehensive amendments to the Factories Act, 1948, had been proposed and were in the final stage of approval.

She said that more organisations were promoting occupational safety and health management systems to improve business performance. - Our Bureau
