Three directors join NMDC board

Hyderabad, July 3

Three new independent directors joined the board of state-owned NMDC, taking the strength of the board to 13. One more independent director is to join the board, a spokesman of the mining firm said. In a communication to the BSE recently, NMDC informed that the Union Ministry of Steel had issued orders appointing the three Independent Directors on the Board and their appointment has come into effect from June 19 for a period of three years or until further orders whichever is earlier. The new directors are Mr Y.K. Sharma, chartered accountant; Mr Abdul Kalam, former Chairman and Managing Director of Eastern Coalfields; and Mr K.S. Raju, former official of the Indian Bureau of Mining.
