New Delhi, July 3 ITC Limited has become the first Indian company to join the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN). This is an important step by ITC towards certifying its fibre to credible standards and offering its customer products which are certified under labelling programmes of credible schemes like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). With this membership, ITC will cover the wood sourced from its farm and social forestry programmes under the FSC. ITC will be offering its products to customers certified under Chain of Custody certification (CoC) schemes like FSC. Products will include business-to-business products such as packaging boards and also its consumer range of paper products like Paperkraft copier and notebooks, and Classmate notebooks marketed by ITC’s Education and Stationery Business. The GFTN, launched in India in December 2008, is WWF’s initiative to eliminate illegal logging and improve the management of valuable and threatened forests. GFTN members have access to dependable sources of harvested timber. More Stories on : Society & Development | Diversified | I T C Ltd | Other States
