Shriram EPC hires 70 engineers

T. Murrali

Chennai, July 4 The Chennai-based Shriram EPC Ltd, an associate of the Shriram Group, has recruited about 70 engineers including 20 from IIT in the last three months.

This will primarily help the company to augment its engineering strengths besides creating a strong talent base enabling it to take up new projects.

The company is in the businesses of providing EPC services for infrastructure and industrial projects, and in renewable energy.

Mr T. Shivaraman, Managing Director, Shriram EPC, told Business Line on the sidelines of CII’s HR Conclave 2009 recently, that the economic slowdown helped the company inasmuch as it was easier to recruit talent.

Apart from picking up freshers, the company has also begun taking in people who had superannuated from other organisations with relevant field experience.

Today, of the 1,000-odd people working for Shriram EPC, about 60 are over 60 years of age.

“This helped us in a better working and improved productivity since it was more like the relationship between grandfather and grandson,” Mr Shivaraman said.
