Rail Budget

The Rail Budget 2009, presented by the Railway Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, is one of the best in recent years as far as Kerala is concerned. The allocation of eight new trains for the State is itself a testimony to this.

The decision to reduce the time for Tatkal reservation to two days is a welcome step, as the present five days was resulting in the seats not being available when last minute travel decisions are taken, defeating the very purpose of the scheme.
