Thiruvananthapuram, July 5

The State Government is aware of ‘positive signs’ on the industrial front and is intent on matching this up with creation of basic infrastructure required by the IT/ITeS sector.

Announcing this, Dr Ajay Kumar, Secretary-IT, invited the realty sector to come up with business plans on how it can possibly partake in, and benefit from, this developmental initiative.

Dr Ajay Kumar said this while addressing a meeting where the Technopark officials interacted with the builder community on how to get a move on with the hub-and-spoke development initiative for IT in the State.

‘RIGHT MOMENT’

He was of the view this was the right moment for the builder community to come up with their business plans and ascertain how they would want to participate in the development programme.

He requested the realty players to come forward with their considered opinion and plans in this regard so that the Government could factor in these while making policy decisions.

‘tremendous opportunities’

In his welcome speech, Mr Mervin Alexander, CEO of Technopark, stated about the ‘tremendous opportunities’ available for builders in the expansion work at Technopark.

Currently, Technopark offers four-million sq. ft. of built-up space in the Phase I campus.

Campus

At least 31 acres of the campus is being developed as a Special Economic Zone by TCS and IBS Software.

Mr Reghuchandran Nair, Secretary-General, Confederation of Real Estate Developers of India (Credai), said the builder community is interested in participating in the State’s development as contractors and project owners.

He promised to come up with firm proposals before the Government to take the initiative forward.

Representatives of major real estate companies such as SI Property (Kerala), Sivaji Builders, Heera Constructions, Muthoot Builders, Cordial Foundation, Sree Dhanya Construction, Leela Infotech, Parsvanath, RDS Projects, Emaar MGF, Yamuna Construction, Condor Builders, Nikunjam Constructions, Southern Investments and Artech Realtors attended the session.
