Desalination proposal gets nod

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government has accorded administrative sanction for the Rs 914-crore desalination plant at Nemmeli to the south of Chennai.

According to an order by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, the Government has given its sanction to the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board to invite global tenders for the 100 million litres a day plant to convert seawater to fresh water. The tenders would be on engineering procuring construction basis for the construction of the plant and the conveyance system. – Our Bureau
