Opinion - Letters
Budget, fiscal deficit

Fears about high fiscal deficit are unwarranted. In fact, it is much-needed in a recession-hit economy, marked by negative inflation.

Massive government expenditure, which gives rise to a high fiscal deficit, coupled with tax sops for individuals and other steps, will increase the purchasing power of the people.

This, in turn, will generate fresh demand for various goods and services, checking recession and aiding growth.
