Info-Tech - Budget
One-year extension of STPI scheme is welcome

The Finance Minister has provided a balanced approach to the Budget: in face of the economic conditions, the focus is rightly on driving the demand by giving incentives to the agriculture/rural sector.

With respect to the IT sector, the one-year extension of the STPI scheme is welcome but a longer extension would have definitely helped the industry.

Initiatives towards abolishing FBT and increase in tax exemption for salaried employees are commendable.

However, an increase in MAT could have been avoided.

Vipul Jain, CEO & Managing Director, Kale Consultants Ltd
