Strategy Info-Tech - Internet Dish TV ties up with job search portal Monster.com Our Bureau New Delhi, July 9 Direct-to-home player Dish TV has tied up with job search portal Monster.com to allow its consumers to browse through job opportunities. The MonsterJobs Active, constrained by the lack of two way technology on current DTH services, will only offer code numbers. To apply, the consumer will have to SMS it or log on to Monster.com. The service also promises to offer counselling to freshers. Dish TV is hoping to add two million to its 5.5 million subscribers by the end of the fiscal year. With the new value added service, it is hoping to differentiate its offering from five other pay service providers currently in the market, said Mr Salil Kapoor, COO, Dish TV. It expects an initial 10-15 per cent of its consumers to try the free service. For Monster.com this opens a new avenue to tap job seekers. “We strongly believe that job search on TV has a great potential in bridging the unmet need of the audience whose access to the Internet is limited,” said Mr Sanjay Modi, MD, Monster.com. After a slump of 30 per cent between March and December 2008, which stabilised between January and March 2009, Monster has seen job opportunities grow at 8-10 per cent between April and June 2009, according to Mr Modi. MJ concert on DTHMichael Jackson’s live concert will be available for the direct-to-home customers of Essel’s Dish TV and Reliance ADAG’s BIG TV. The pop idol’s live concert in Bucharest from the Dangerous Tour in 1992 will be available to consumers for a fee of Rs 25. The show, acquired from Sony BMG the rights’ owner, is available for a month on both platforms. BIG TV claims this is the first non-film premiere on the DTH platform in India.
