Industry Associations States - Andhra Pradesh Travel agents decry delay in issuing passports Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 9 The Andhra Pradesh chapter of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has expressed concern over the delay in issue of new passports. The association members, who met with the Regional Passport Officer, Mr G. Srinivas, on Thursday, pointed out that receipt of new passports, renewal and other services are sometimes taking between three to four months. “There was a commitment by the then Regional Passport Officer that passports would be issued within 30 to 45 days from the date of application,” the association said. Mr Vijay Mohanraj, Chairman of the State chapter of TAAI, said the practice of accepting applications along with demand drafts was introduced three months back and its operation was found to be very cumbersome. “It is, therefore, requested that the earlier procedure of accepting cash at the counter is reintroduced,” he said.
