Jungle Lodges gets ready project report for Bannerghatta night safari

Anjana Chandramouly

Bangalore, July 9 Jungle Lodges and Resorts has got the project report for its ambitious night safari plans for the Bannerghatta National Park ready. The investment into the project is worth around Rs 178 crore.

According to Mr N.D. Tiwari, Managing Director, Jungle Lodges and Resorts, a Karnataka Government Undertaking, the safari area would be spread over 100 hectares.

Tenders

“Tenders have to be called for now, and we have to execute the project,” he added. The State Government is very keen on this project, said Mr Tiwari.

It would take about 2-3 years to complete the project. The night safari would be operated from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tram lines

“There will be internal tram lines — two battery-operated coaches, with a capacity of 70-80 persons each. We would also be using diffused light so as to avoid inconvenience to animals,” said Mr Tiwari. About 40-50 animals will be housed for the safari.

According to the report, the tariff for night safari has been fixed at Rs 400 a person, he said.

“But the charges are subject to changes,” he added.

The night safari at Bannerghatta National Park takes its inspiration from the famous Singapore Night Safari.

Mr Tiwari said that in India, three other night safari projects are at different stages of planning. One would come up at Noida in Uttar Pradesh, while the others would be the Arignar Anna Zoo in Chennai and the Hyderabad Zoo.
