`High tech spend by emerging markets'

Bangalore, July 9

Emerging Asian markets such as China, India and Vietnam have higher IT budgets this year followed by Latin American countries, according to a study by Forrester Research. While 19 per cent of respondents in these markets are expected to increase their tech spending in 2009, 12 per cent buyers in Latin America are expected to expand their IT budgets, Forrester said.

The study, "Enterprise Global Technology Adoption Survey, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East, And Africa, Q1 2009," which comprised more than 1,400 IT executives and technology decision-makers located in these markets, is an inaugural study of technology adoption plans and priorities across all of these regions.

The study showed that the Asia-Pacific and West Asia, Africa and Russia are the current bright spots for Software as a Service (SaaS). It also pointed out that Cloud computing activity is low globally.

In the Asia-Pacific, 52 per cent of firms are not interested. Latin America had the highest percentage of firms (14 per cent) that have already implemented cloud computing or payper- use hosting of virtual servers. -Our Bureau
