LS passes Railway Budget

The Lok Sabha today passed the Railway Budget for 2009-10 after conclusion of a discussion on the demand for grants. The demand for grants will now go to the Rajya Sabha for clearance. The Railway Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, announced two new non-stop trains during her discussion in the Lok Sabha. She had already announced 12 non-stop trains in her Budget speech. She said the Railways will continue to increase spending on building new lines, getting more wagons and coach es. It will also work towards overall passenger satisfaction and the betterment of its 1.4 million workforce. — Our Bureau
