Our Bureau Mumbai, July 10 Wind turbine maker, Suzlon Energy will set up a blade manufacturing facility in Andalusia, Spain. It is scheduled to be commissioned by December 2010. While more details were not forthcoming, a Spanish Government Web site says that the project will be backed by an investment of €22 million. Once up and running, it will produce 750 blades annually and cater to the needs of other European markets. Nearly 600 jobs will be created as a result. The Web site says that the factory will be built on a 13-hectare site located in the municipality of Carboneras. The project is being developed in three phases. “The company’s choice of location for the new factory in Carboneras is seen as strategic from the logistical point of view, because of the proximity of the industrial port of Carboneras and the development of the sector in Andalusia,” the Web site said. Eufer projectSuzlon has also announced it has received a contract for supplying 224.5 MW of turbines from Eufer, a joint venture company between ENEL Green Energy of Italy and Spanish utility, Union Fenosa. Ms Cristina Puerta, Communications Manager with Eufer, told Business Line over phone from Madrid that this is Eufer’s first order to Suzlon. The machines will be installed in seven wind farms by 2010-11. According to a press statement issued by Suzlon, Mr Erik Winther Pedersen, CEO, Suzlon Wind Energy A/S – Suzlon’s Europe and Latin America-arm, said, “Eufer is a European leader in renewable energy projects, and we are proud to form this strategic partnership with them.
