Human Resources States - Karnataka Civil contractors’ body to train unskilled workforce The association plans to associate with cement companies to impart training in concrete mixing and other related activities. Our Bureau Mangalore, July 10 The Civil Contractors’ Association, Mangalore, plans to impart skill development training to the labour force in the construction industry, according to Mr Purushottam Kottary, President. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, he said the intention of the association is to train the unskilled labour force in various aspects of construction. In this regard, the association plans to associate with cement companies to impart training in concrete mixing and other related activities. Workers, who migrate to the city and join the construction sector, find it difficult to do works related to the sector. In such a situation, training programmes would make them ready for working in construction industry, he said. To a query, Mr Kottary said that the low-cost housing is a necessity for many people. Stating that there are various means by which low-cost houses can be constructed, he said the association members will help their customers to build low-cost houses. The association, which was founded recently, has more than 200 members. Mr Kottary said that the association will be inaugurated by Mr Gopal B. Hosur, Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangalore, on July 13. Mr Lancy Mascarenhas of Lancy Constructions, Mangalore, will be the chief guest. Mr K.C. Naik, Managing Director of Mahabaleshwara Builders Pvt Ltd, Mr P.M.A. Razaak, President of Kanara Builders’ Association, Mr Ashok Kumar, Chairman of the Mangalore Centre of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, and Mr B.
