TN allots land for Bavina Cars’ facility

Chennai, July 10 Chennai-based Bavina Cars India Ltd on Friday received the allotment letter for setting up a manufacturing facility in the 100-acre plot in the special economic zone in Ranipet to make battery operated passenger cars.

At a function at the Secretariat, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr M.K. Stalin, handed over the allotment letter to Mr S. Rajasekar, Chairman, Bavina Cars. Later he also drove the prototype of the battery car.

To invest Rs 300 cr

A press release from the State Government said Bavina Cars has committed to invest Rs 300 crore in the project.

The plant will have an annual capacity of 25,000 cars and commercial production will commence from January 2011. The plant will give direct as well as indirect employment for around 1,500.
