People John Flannery to be new GE India chief Our Bureau New Delhi, Nov. 1 The General Electric Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jeff Immelt, recently announced the appointment of Mr John Flannery as the new President and CEO of GE’s business operations in India. Mr Flannery will oversee GE’s new approach to consolidate all its business into one team with an integrated strategy. Commenting on the appointment and GE’s new approach, Mr Immelt said in a release, “It is time for GE to become a truly great local company in India and John is the right person to lead our team of 12,000 employees there. He has extensive experience in building partnerships, structuring deals and in developing strong leaders and teams. We will treat GE India just as we would any other GE business, with its own growth strategy, leadership development and budgeting processes.” Traditionally, GE’s business leaders in countries such as India report to their respective GE business. Under GE’s new model in India, all GE’s business leaders in the country will report directly to Mr Flannery, who will report to the GE Vice-Chairman, Mr John Krenicki. Mr Immelt said GE India’s former President and CEO Mr Tejpreet Chopra would continue to be a part of the company but will work under Mr Flannery’s leadership. “Before transitioning to his next role in the company, Tejpreet will work for John where he will continue to be instrumental in government relations and strategy development for GE in India,” said Mr Immelt.
