Zenith Birla net at Rs 4.5 cr

Mumbai, Nov. 3

Zenith Birla’s net profit more than doubled to Rs 4.48 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2009 against Rs 1.54 crore logged in the same period last year. Sales were down to Rs 131 crore (Rs 166 crore) in the quarter under review. The sharp fall in raw material helped the company improve its bottomline. Raw material cost fell 27 per cent to Rs 86 crore (Rs 117 crore). The company’s shares on the BSE were down 10 per cent at Rs 19 on Tuesday. —
