IFC to help AP upgrade diagnostic services

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Nov. 3 International Finance Corporation (IFC) will help the Andhra Pradesh Government to upgrade diagnostic services in three public sector hospitals with the help of the private sector.

The hospitals – one each in Warangal, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam – will have advance diagnostic services such as dialysis forthe low and middle-income group people.

“Through this initiative, we hope to make high-quality healthcare services affordable for the underserved groups,” Ms Rachel Kyte, Vice-President (Business Advisory Services) of IFC, said.

Earlier, she signed an agreement with the State Government officials in this regard.

Policy framework

Through its first infrastructure advisory health-sector project in India, IFC would support development of a comprehensive policy framework for public-private partnerships in the local health sector, an IFC press release said here on Tuesday.

“We hope to leverage the private sector for improving public health,” Mr J Satyanarayana, Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare, AP), said.

IFC’s advice would include identifying priority areas for healthcare partnerships, developing a strategy for guiding private investment in health service delivery and establishing guidelines for public-private partnership initiatives.
