Events States - Kerala CII Kerala IT to host summit in Dec Our Bureau Kochi, Nov. 3 As part of its efforts to accelerate the growth of IT in Kerala and recognise the State’s emergence as a prominent IT destination, the CII Kerala State Council is organising – India IT Summit 2009 at Thiruvananthapuram on December 10 and 11. Announcing it at a road show held at the Kochi Info Park on Tuesday, the organisers said that India IT summit was planned as an annual event where key influencers globally would be invited to deliberate and discuss issues pertaining to the IT industry. The theme and focus for the event is Changing role of India in Global IT Business, and would consist of three plenary sessions. “Kerala has great potential for IT and the State should do everything to tap this. By holding the India IT summit in the State, we are getting national and international focus on Kerala,” said Mr Umang Patodia, former Chairman, CII Kerala State Council. CII has decided to join hands with the State Government in its effort to make the State as one of the premier IT destinations in the country, he said. According to Mr V.K. Mathews, Convenor, CII State IT Panel and Chairman IBS Group, India IT Summit 2009, is the first major event to be held to discuss the changing role of India in the global IT business. The objective of organising the IT summit is to identify and focus on the fast changing role of IT from that of supporting to transforming business, how it is influencing our lives and also to look at how Kerala can plan a major role in this transformation with its educated population, he added. The event is expected to be attended by over 400 people comprising thought leaders, senior members of IT companies, CEOs from the user community, the State officials, members of the industry and so on.
