Channels and Franchises States - West Bengal Salora ties up with Mobell to sell handsets in India
New Choice: Mr Gopal Jiwarajka, Managing Director, Salora International Ltd, at the launch of Mobell mobile phones in Kolkata on Tuesday. Our Bureau Kolkata, Nov. 3 Salora International Ltd has entered into marketing and distribution tie-up with Singapore based mobile handset manufacturer Mobell to sell its products in India. The company will initially market seven of Mobell’s handsets in the country, Mr Gopal Jiwarajka, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Salora, said here on Tuesday. “We are planning to incorporate a software in the phones that will enable users to access new value added services by the operator better,” he said, adding that the phones would also have a Dual-SIM support. The mobile phone marketing segment contributes nearly 50 per cent of the company’s business and the rest comes from computer distribution and television manufacturing verticals. On Salora’s television manufacturing business, Mr Jiwarajka said that the company was in the process of working out a revival strategy for the segment. “We are not happy with the way the television segment is doing and the revival strategy will aim at restructuring every aspect of business including production, branding and marketing.” The company sells around 25,000 televisions a month in the domestic market, of which about 10 per cent is sold in West Bengal.
