Rs 1,145-cr order for Unity-led venture

Mumbai, Nov. 4

A Unity Infra Projects-IVRCL Infrastructure and Projects joint venture has bagged a Rs 1,145.88-crore order from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for construction of an 8.3-km water supply tunnel from Kapurbawdi to Bhandup Complex. The contractors intend using a tunnel boring machine for executing the job which will be 100 metres below the ground. The project alignment is also across a creek. The project is slated for completion in 60 months. Asked whether the t unnel would traverse ground below the buildings, Mr Yogen Lal, the Chief Operating officer, Unity Infra, said the JV partners were awarded only 8.3-km of the total contract length of 15 km.
