Fuel consumption up marginally in Sept

New Delhi, Nov.4

Domestic fuel consumption saw a marginal growth of 0.8 per cent in September, the lowest since May. This was mainly due to lower demand for naphtha. According to the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), oil product sales were 10.697 million tonnes in September against 10.615 million tonnes in the same month of the previous year. Petrol sales during the month grew 15.2 per cent to 1.037 million tonnes. Diesel sales during the month rose by 4.7 per cent to 4.121 mil lion tonnes. September last year, diesel sales had seen a growth of 17.5 per cent against the previous year. Naphtha sales fell by 20.8 per cent in September. For the April-September period, oil product sales grew by 3.6 per cent against the same period last year. Crude oil imports rose 7.3 per cent in the April-September period to 69.605 million tonnes (64.838 million tonnes). Oil product exports during the first half of the current fiscal fell 25 per cent to 14.393 million tonnes (19.172 million tonnes).
