Our Bureau Bangalore, Nov. 5 Yardley London, considered a heritage brand, comes with more than 200 years of chequered history and several owners including Lornamead, P&G and Wella. Yardley was part of Wella, which was acquired by P&G in 2005. Wella acquired the rights to the brand name from KPMG, which acted as the receiver in the late 1990s, when it was on the brink of collapse. Prior to this, it was a family-owned Bond Street brand in London. The brand also has two Royal Warrants, a recognition given to British companies for their services and products. Over the years, Yardley has come out with new-gen fragrances such as Oatmeal Almond, Lemon Verbena and Aloe Cucumber, but its classics such as English Lavender, Lily of the Valley and April Violets have remained popular products. Wipro Consumer Care, Yardley’s new owner in Asia, Australasia and certain parts Africa, sees Yardley as complementing its portfolio of consumer care brands.
