35 cos at India fair in Argentina

New Delhi, Nov. 5

At least 35 Indian companies are participating in the Festival of India exhibition being held at Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 10-day long festival aims to promote export of handicraft products and to develop brand image of Indian handicrafts in the global markets. The main attraction is an array of Indian handcrafted products displaying a range of textiles, furnishings, fabrics, costume jewellery and accessories, Kashmiri products and handicrafts, Christmas decorations amo ng others, an Export Promotion Council for Handicraft release said. A special promotion on Indian tourism is also being held, besides a plethora of performing arts. Exports to Argentina stood at $4.08 million during 2005-06 which increased to $4.96 million during 2007-08, and declined to $3.13 million during 2008-09 due to the global recession.
