GlowTouch Technologies plans to recruit more people

Mangalore, Nov. 6 GlowTouch Technologies, a technology company headquartered in Louisville in the US, which has a development centre in Mangalore, is planning to hire nearly 400 people in the next six months.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Dr V. Ravichandran, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said that the company has developed a modern campus in Mangalore where more than 750 people are working.

“We are going to hire about 400-500 people in the next six months. Of this, 80-90 per cent of the openings will go to the local people,” he said.

GlowTouch Technologies service offerings include offshore technology support and development, onsite consultancy, call centre and BPO services to small and medium businesses.

Recessionary impact

Asked about the impact of recession on the company, he said the amount of revenue has come down by 30 per cent. However, recession did not affect it as much as it did bigger companies.

“We don’t have much presence in areas like banking, real estate and automobile, which were hit by recession. We are totally into technology resources like Web hosting,” he said, adding that the drop in revenue was mainly because of lack of cash flow from the customers’ end. However, the situation is slowly improving now, Dr Ravichandran said.

To a query on the advantages of having a development centre in Mangalore, he said the region provides enough human resources. Though the company does not find any problem in sourcing human resource for lower and middle segment of its workforce, getting highly skilled people is a problem, he said.

The company has been named as the fastest-growing private company in Greater Louisville by Business First magazine. Business First’s ‘Fast 50’ awards honour the 50 fastest-growing independent and privately-held companies in Greater Louisville area, he added.
