Nifty, Unitech, ICICI Bank shed open positions

Turnover remained moderate at Rs 81,008.35 crore on Tuesday. The Nifty November futures closed in discount at 4874.7 against the spot close of 4881.7. It also shed 14.81 lakh shares in open interest, indicating unwinding of long positions, as traders decided to book profits.

Among the options, 4900 and 5000 calls added open interest while 4800 put shed 7.05 lakh shares open interest, suggesting further downside for the markets.

Stock futures

Among the individual stock futures, Unitech shed 54.81 lakh shares and closed at 86.35 against the spot close of 86.5. ICICI Bank also shed 10.76 lakh shares and closed at 895.25 against the spot close of 895.75. Reliance also shed3.65 lakh shares and ended in discount at 2053.35 with respect to the spot close of 2057.10.

The other counters that shed open interest include Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, HDIL and Reliance Capital.

However, SBI futures added 3.49 lakh shares but ended in discount at 2345.2 against the spot close of 2365.1, indicating that most of the accumulations were on the short side.

FII activity

Overseas investors were net buyers to the tune of Rs 657.38 crore in the F&O segment on Tuesday.
