Excise dept’s Madurai unit e-ready

The Madurai Central Excise Commissionerate launched on Tuesday ‘ACES’, an automated software application based on workflow, developed by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, in a function here, aimed at providing an electronic interface under the Centre’s e-governance plan. Inaugurating the automation application, Mr P.S.R.K.Sudhakar, General Manager and Airport Director, Madurai said automation raises the efficiency and speed in the execution of fun ctions. The commisionerate is the 32nd to introduce the application among 91 commissionerates in the country and would gradually replace the current applications. The It will be available at present for capturing returns and registration of details of assessees, according to Mr S. Kannan, Commissioner of Central Excise, Madurai.
