Defence Ministry objection to DoT

New Delhi, Nov. 11

Even as an inter-Ministerial meeting took place on Wednesday to thrash out issues related to 3G spectrum auction, the Defence Ministry has shot-off another letter to the Department of Telecom saying that the spectrum given to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd for offering 3G services was outside the band that the two Ministries had agreed on. It also told the DoT that the information memorandum issued for private players who will participate in the upcoming auction also does not gi ve a complete picture of the spectrum availability and the exact frequency which will be allocated to them. The Ministry also stated that the information memorandum did not mention the 10 Mhz spectrum released recently by the armed forces. The open house with prospective 3G bidders is scheduled for November 14. —
