Advocates’ stir set to end

Kolkata, Nov. 11

The stalemate in Calcutta High Court, continuing since November 3, is likely to come to an end soon. The cease-work by advocates, launched in protest against the Government’s failure to appoint sufficient number of judges, is likely to be lifted on November 16. At a meeting held in High Court here on Wednesday, a resolution on resumption of normal work was adopted by the strikers. There are at least 20 vacancies for Judges in Calcutta High Court even as the number of litigation keeps mounting. –
