Expressway along the Cooum: Encroachments along the Cooum river are being cleared to make way for an elevated highway project in Chennai. The 19-km expressway, which is likely to cost over Rs 2,000 crore, will start from Chennai Port and continue along the banks of the Cooum till Koyambedu. From Koyambedu, it will run at the centre of the existing road up to Maduravoyal on the Chennai bypass. —
