Politics States - Andhra Pradesh CLP authorises Sonia to choose a leader for AP Our Bureau Hyderabad, Nov. 27 The Andhra Pradesh Congress Legislature party, which met here on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution here authorising the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Ms Sonia Gandhi, to select its leader. At a meeting held under the supervision of two central observers, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, CWC member and Union Finance Minister, and Mr Veerappa Moily, the resolution was proposed by Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, MP and son of late Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Significantly, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was an aspirant for the chief minister's post, which is now with senior leader Mr K.Rosaiah. Later, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, flanked by Mr Rosaiah and Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the resolution was supported by 150 MLAs, 49 MLCs and 29 MPs of the party. This move assumes importance as there was general feeling that the CLP meeting would elect Mr. Rosaiah as its leader after it was proposed by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy. Passing resolutions The CLP meeting held here for the first time after the death of Dr Reddy adopted a resolution condoling his death and lauding his contributions. The CLP also passed another resolution expressing condolences to the two pilots, the chief security officer and principal secretary, all of whom died in the chopper crash. In another resolution, the CLP mourned the death of people in recent Krishna floods last month. More Stories on : Politics | Andhra Pradesh
