Release of onion export quota

NEW DELHI: The Department of Consumer Affairs has recommended release of entire quota of seven lakh tonnes of onion for exports during 2002-03, after reviewing the availability and price of onion in the country with immediate effect.

An official statement said here on Wednesday that depending on the prevailing prices and availability of onion, the Department would support further enhancement of the export quantity of onion.
