Rubber Rubber prices steady Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM: Rubber prices continued to be steady for sheet and block rubber while latex concentrate showed uptrends on account of shortage. While some companies abstained from the market, major players purchased rubber. But the quantity of the offtake was generally low and the lack of buying interest made the market inactive. The arrivals slightly improved in the market as tapping resumed in some areas following monsoon showers during the past few days. A few rubber growers are still holding the stock with the hope that the market will touch Rs 40 a kg for sheet rubber. However, market sources disapprove this. RSS 4 remained flat at Rs 34.50 per kg and RSS 5 at Rs 32.50 as on Wednesday. Ungraded rubber improved to Rs 31 from Rs 30.50 per kg while latex 60 per cent firmed up to Rs 29 from Rs 28.50 a kg. Block rubber ISNR 20 remained steady at Rs 32.
