New CT scanner at CDR Hospitals

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: CDR Hospitals here has installed a multi-slice, multi-detector, ultra fast spiral CT scanner costing Rs 3 crore. Supplied by GE Medical Systems of the US, the scanner helps in rapid, accurate diagnosis of patients, especially accident victims, with less radiation exposure. It is a `safe CT', used in emergency and trauma care and can scan 200 patients a day.

The scanner can capture body images through multiple slices in a single shot. It will then reconstruct the rapid images and point out where and how far a body part has been affected by an accident. It can scan a poly trauma patient in 30 seconds against 45 to 90 minutes taken by other scanners.

CDR Hospitals is offering free treatment to road accident victims under its Jeevanadhata scheme. Its ambulance service (Ph: 345 67 89) is also free with full-time neuro, orthopaedic and critical care specialists. — Our Bureau
