Sports Horse-riding kit cos bag orders at German fair Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, Sept. 16 FOUR Indian horse-riding equipment manufacturing companies have bagged orders, including serious enquiries, in excess of Rs 10 crore, at the recently concluded international horse riding product show in Germany. All the four companies participated at the fair with the support of the Indo German Export Promotion Project (IGEP). Germany, which is the biggest importer of saddlery from India, bought saddlery goods worth $7.63 million in 2001-02. India now holds more than 25 per cent market share in the German equestrian equipment market and about 8 per cent in the global market. In the year 2001-02, India's total exports of horse-riding equipment including saddles and harnesses stood at $42 million (roughly Rs 200 crore). A statement issued by IGEP said that it was assisting Indian companies improve their products for meeting the European requirements. Most of India's products currently cater to the lower market segments.
