Asahi India Q2 net up 29%

NEW DELHI, Oct. 28

ASAHI India Glass Ltd (AIGL) has reported a 29.45 per cent increase in net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2002 to Rs 4.93 crore as against a net profit of Rs 3.81 crore recorded in the same period during the previous year.

Total sales of the company for the period under review increased to Rs 67.04 crore from Rs 60.73 crore recorded in the same period during previous year.

A statement issued by Asahi India also said that its subsidiary - Float Glass India - has registered a net profit of Rs 5.33 crore during the second quarter as against a net loss of Rs 5.88 crore in the same period last year. Total sales of the subsidiary for the period under review stood at Rs 62.11 crore (Rs 53.32 crore).
