K-bip workshop on banana-based food processing

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Dec. 8

KERALA Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-bip), an autonomous body of the State Government, is organising a one-day technical workshop on `Development of banana/plantain-based food processing industry' on December 12 at Hotel Residency Tower.

The workshop is being organised for the benefit of existing industries as well as prospective entrepreneurs, according to Mr V. Rajagopal, General Manager, K-bip.

Technical presentations by the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda), New Delhi, the Indian Institute of Horticulture Research (IIHR), Bangalore, the National Research Centre for Banana under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Tiruchi, the Kerala Agriculture University, and the Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK), among others, will be the major highlights of the workshop, he added.

Among the dignitaries presenting papers are Dr S. Sathia Moorthy, Director, Apeda, Dr Gopala Krishna Rao, Director, IIHR (ICAR), Mr R. Ravindra, Assistant General Manager, National Research Centre for Banana, Mr V.K. Raju of Kerala Agriculture University, Dr S. Mothilal Nehru of VFPCK, and Dr Mary Ukkuru of the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram.

Industrialists and entrepreneurs in the food processing sector are eligible to attend the workshop.

The workshop is being held as part of the industrial promotion activity of the State Government.
