THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Jan. 3

THE State Government has notified the constitution of five sub-committees and task forces to assist the 27-member State-level steering committee already set up for implementing the Modernising Government Programme (MGP).

A sub-committee and a task force each have been put at the disposal of the officials spearheading the five separate action plans that have been identified as major areas of Government activity under the MGP, an official spokesman said.

As per the notification, the Principal Secretary (Water Resources) has been appointed head of the sub-committee on common minimum programmes.

The Principal Secretary (Industries) will head the sub-committee concerned with ensuring economic growth, while the Principal Secretary (Finance) is the head of two separate sub-committees working to bring about financial stability and to render local self-Government institutions accessible to the common man.

The Principal Secretary (Administrative Reforms) will head the sub-committee dealing in efforts aimed at strengthening the main activities relating to governance.
