SAIL output up 7 pc in April-Dec

NEW DELHI, Jan. 3

STEEL Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) produced 7.34 million tonnes of saleable steel, a growth of seven per cent during April-December 2002 over the corresponding period last year, according to a company release.

The four integrated steel plants recorded a significant growth on production, with Rourkela leading the tally with 13 per cent growth during the period.

The sales from the company's marketing wing, Central Marketing Organisation (CMO), also grew by nine per cent during the first three quarters of the current financial year.
