NEW DELHI, Feb. 15 JAGSON Airlines has acquired a six-seater Chetak helicopter from the Rajasthan Government to enhance its product profile and offer more choice to the passenger. "We will be setting up a new helicopter division in the airline to look after the helicopter business. Besides, we are also negotiating with Euro-Copter Helicopter Company to acquire another six-seater helicopter. The helicopter that we have got from the Rajasthan Government will help us expand our operations and provide flights to higher altitude areas," the airlines Chairman, Mr Jagdish P. Gupta, told Business Line. The induction of the helicopter will allow the airline to offer passengers the opportunity of not only flying the three Dornier 328 aircraft but also making use of fixed wing helicopters also. The helicopter, which is to be given out on charters, is based in Delhi where it is being painted in the Jagson colours. The airline has also taken on crew, technicians and engineers and built the infrastructure to house the machine. The airline, was given a licence in 1992 operates scheduled services to several destinations including Kullu and Shimla. Meanwhile, Jagson, which is in "advance stages" of price negotiations for purchase of 30 to 50-seater jet aircraft, plans to launch a three-times-a-week flight on the Delhi-Jaipur-Rajkot sector from February 26. Further, Jagson, which is undergoing a complete revamp, also plans to offer passengers the option of purchasing their ticket on line. "The software for the online purchase of tickets is almost ready. We hope to make an announcement about this new initiative very soon," Mr Gupta said. Commenting on the financial performance of the airline, Mr Gupta said that last year the adverse weather conditions in the north affected operations and, therefore, the bottomline. "We are hopeful of finishing this year in the black. At least till now we are on course for that," he said.
