Herbalife targets 20 pc sales growth

MUMBAI, Feb. 15

HERBALIFE International India Pvt Ltd (HIPL), a Bangalore-based healthcare company specialising in nutritional supplement products aims to garner a 20 per cent growth in its topline from the existing Rs 100 crore.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Manoj Shirodkar, Country Director, Herbalife International India Pvt Ltd, said that the company has plans to export some of its products to the South American countries.

"We are contemplating exporting the mango flavour of the Formula One protein health drink to countries such as Brazil and Argentina.''

Herbalife launched a performance protein powder priced at a maximum retail price of Rs 635 for a bottle of 200 grams. The powder can be used as a supplement to the daily protein intake.

The company has an array of products in segments such as dietary supplements and weight management.

Herbalife is in the process of developing `India specific' products and is expected to launch these products soon. Says Mr Shirodkar, "We are planning to introduce several products that is India-specific such as biscuits.''

All the products sold in India were produced by the Pune-based Litaka Pharmaceuticals and raw materials and quality control were provided and handled by Herbalife, he said.

HIPL, which is a part of US-based Herbalife International, markets the products in India through 40,000 active distributors, the country director added.
