CHENNAI, March 12

WITH admission to engineering colleges just round the corner, Zak Span is organising an education fair for engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, which will be held in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai.

Mr Syed Zakir Ahmed, Chairman, Zak Trade Fairs and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, said that this expo would help students and parents gather information about the engineering colleges in the State. It would also provide the engineering colleges a place to showcase the capabilities and interact personally with students and parents.

The company has come out with a booklet on the participating colleges, which would highlight the various strengths of the colleges. The company has verified all the facilities mentioned in the booklet, Mr Ahmed said and will provide reliable information to the students.

Around 40 colleges will be participating in this exhibition. The other participants of the expo will be financial institutions, career counsellors and high IT education providers.

Tamil Nadu has around 250 engineering colleges and an intake of around 75,000 students every year. Last year almost 20 per cent of the seats in the colleges were not filled. Mr Ahmed said that around a lakh of people were expected to visit the fair in Chennai during the first week of April and at least 30,000 people were expected at each of the exhibitions in Madurai and Coimbatore.
