Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, June 16

THE Government is hopeful of eliciting a good response for the exploration blocks offered under the fourth round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP).

Speaking to newspersons on Monday after attending roadshows abroad to promote participation in the blocks, the Union Petroleum Minister, Mr Ram Naik, told newspersons that he expected big names to bid for the 24 oil and gas blocks besides nine coal bed methane blocks on offer.

``The recent discoveries have made Indian acreage attractive to foreign investors. Response at the roadshows in London, Calgary and Houston was very encouraging,'' he said.

While the roadshow in London was attended by 83 companies, 34 participated in the roadshow held in Calgary and the Houston roadshow was attended by 66 companies.
