BANGALORE: Mascot Systems Ltd will now be known as iGATE Global Solutions (IGS) as the company has gone for a corporate name change. Mascot on Monday announced the name change following the approval from its shareholders at the annual general meeting on Saturday.

The name change comes at a strategic time for Mascot as over the last six months, various acquisitions have transformed the company into a large-scale organisation with expanded service offerings in the BPO, Data Management and CRM areas and increased geographic presence within India and in China.

The change in name brought the company into harmony with the worldwide identity of the parent company, iGATE Corporation. A unified corporate identity would spell instant recognition globally and help the company capitalise on the enormous benefits of established brand equity, said a company press release.

"The name change decision reflects the importance that offshore services have taken for iGATE Corporation as a whole, and emphasises our commitment to expanding iGATE Global Solutions," said Mr Sunil Wadhwani, Chairman, iGATE Global Solutions.

"The new identity gives us a strong brand name to re-position us in the international marketplace", said Mr Ashok Trivedi, Vice-Chairman, iGATE Global Solutions. The name change will be subject to and effective from the date of issue of fresh Certificate of Incorporation by the Registrar of Companies, Karnataka.
