M. Venugopalan takes over as Bank of India CMD

MR M.Venugopalan has taken over as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of India (BoI) from August 14.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Venugopalan was the Executive Director of Union Bank of India.

He started his career as an officer with Canara Bank in February 1966. In the same year, he joined BoI.

Apart from having served in various departments during his tenure with BoI, Mr Venugopalan was also the chief executive of the bank's European branches, overseeing six branches in the UK and one each in Channel Islands and Paris, a bank release said.

His areas of strength are foreign exchange, international banking, corporate finance and personnel management.
