Mumbai blasts

The recent bomb blasts in Mumbai were, indeed, a dastardly act. It is sad that the terrorists are targeting innocent civilians, particularly those living in Mumbai. To counter the terrorists effectively, it is necessary for the Centre to upgrade the intelligence system of the country.

Every time there is a blast, security is tight for a few days. But soon it becomes lax, and then another blast takes place. What is needed is constant vigil, as the terrorists are ready to go to any lengths to carry out their attacks.

It is also important for the general public to look out for unattended bags and parcels in public places or for people moving about in a suspicious manner, and report the same to the police.

Security is an invaluable fundamental right, and can be achieved only if all sections of the society work towards it.

One only hopes the State and Central Governments take some initiatives in this regard.
