Attorney General's views sought

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Sept. 22

THE Finance Ministry has sought the Attorney General's views on the arbitration notices served by Bechtel Enterprises and GE against the Government.

On its part, the Union Power Ministry has sought the comments of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board on the matter.

The two American companies had recently filed an arbitration case seeking $600 million each as against their investment of $120 million each in Dabhol Power Company.

Bechtel Enterprises Holdings (Bechtel) and GE Structured Finance (GESF), the affiliates that hold 10 per cent ownership interests in the $3 billion Dabhol power plant, filed the arbitration action.
